AQUAS - Shimane Aquarium アクアス 島根 海洋館 is Shimane Prefecture's claim to fame and arguably the best Aquarium in Japan. Aquas' star attraction are the beautiful Beluga Whales that put on an unforgettable performance.

It is said that anyone who witnesses the Beluga Whales blowing their magic bubble rings will be blessed with happiness. The aquarium features sea creatures from the shores of Shimane and the Sea of Japan, an undersea tunnel with sharks and rays, a Sea of Creation, a Micro Aquarium, the Sea of Exchange with a coral reef, a Sea Lion and Seal pool and many more attractions. The latest attraction is the newly built Penguin Pavilion. See Penguins like you've never seen them in any other aquarium. Shows include the must see famous Beluga Whale show and the Sea Lion and Seal show. There are also regular feeding times in the various galleries. There is a cafe and a gift shop in the aquarium, adjacent to the building is a food court and playground facilities.
