On your travel tour of Japan through Izumo 出雲 Shimane 島根, how about stopping at one of Shimane's finest Onsen / Hot Springs right by Izumoshi Station 出雲市駅.
Ranpu no Yu is a Japanese Onsen / Hot spring resort in Izumo 出雲 Shimane 島根. It is conveniently located a 2min walk from the South exit of JR Izumoshi Station JR出雲市駅. It is a fine establishment indeed with a dark interior lit up by electric and some oil lamps giving it a relaxing atmosphere.

The actual hot spring water contains sediments making it opaque with a light brown colour. Because of this you may notice brown sediment on your body when you exit the bath. It is recommended that you wash this off at a rinsing station and do not put your towel in the bath or it will stain a light brown colour.
There are three rectangular shaped hot bath tubs outside made from wood that sink into the wooden floor. There is also a cold water bath outside in a metal tub, and two deck chairs. The outside scenery is a bamboo garden, lightly illuminated at night. The sauna is small and fits up to 4 people very tightly. The amenities are excellent with separate shampoo and conditioner bottles, plus body soap. Every second rinsing station has soap, shampoo and conditioner made from black charcoal. There are signs on the wall stating not to take the amenities home with you.
There is a filtered water drink station just as you re-enter the change room from the bath area.
In the lobby there are vending machines for drinks, milk and ice-cream, massage chairs and a tatami mat area with a television. On the second floor there is a separate massage room. The free tea provided in the lobby is particularly delicious.
