The most famous Onsen / Hot spring 温泉 establishment in Shimane 島根 is Tamatsukuri Onsen 玉造温泉. It is located west of Matsue 松江 in Tamayu Town 玉湯町.
Probably the most popular and easily accessible facility in Tamastukuri Onsen 玉造温泉 is Yuu-Yu ゆ～ゆ.

Tamatsukuri Onsen 玉造温泉 is an Onsen / Hot spring town and like many others in Japan it consists of a long street lined with hotels, Japanese inns (Ryokan) 旅館 and Onsen / Hot spring facilities 温泉施設. All of the hotels or Japanese inns (Ryokan) 旅館 have their own Onsen / Hot springs but it is rare for them to allow you to only visit the hot spring (Onsen) 温泉, usually referred to as a “Day visit” (Higaeri Onsen) 日帰り温泉. Normally it is only the right for patrons staying at the hotel or Japanese inn (Ryokan) 旅館 to be able to visit the hot spring (Onsen) 温泉. However, in most Hot spring towns there are one or more facilities specifically for the purpose of day visits (Higaeri Onsen) 日帰り温泉. At Tamatsukuri Onsen 玉造温泉 the most popular day visit facility is Yuu-Yu ゆ～ゆ.
Yuu-Yu ゆーゆ is exceptionally cheaper (half-price) for Matsue 松江 citizens. It is a modern building and modern hot spring (Onsen) 温泉. As you enter the bathing area there are shower stations to your left and right. The indoor bath is large and can fit many patrons. The outdoor bath (Rotenburo) 露天風呂 is unique as it curves around. There are Utase-yu 打たせ湯 (water falls from above to massage the shoulders etc.) stations and an exceptionally hot bath at the end.
There are two saunas. A mist sauna is located in the outside bath area. The dry sauna is located in the indoor bath area. There is no cold water plunge pool, but just outside the dry sauna is a cold water trough so you can use a pail to dowse yourself with cold water after exiting the sauna.
