There are not many Onsen / Hot spring 温泉 in or around Tokyo. Those that exist are usually very expensive. For this reason Sanintabi recommends visiting the country prefectures of Japan for the best Onsen /Hot springs 温泉 in the country. However, sometimes this is not possible, and since many people travel through Tokyo on the way to other prefectures, this guide for Onsen 温泉 establishments in Tokyo is presented.

Mangekyou Onsen is located just outside of Tokyo in Chiba Prefecture 千葉県。 Free shuttle buses run from Shin Urayasu Station 新浦安駅. It is a large Onsen 温泉 establishment that can cater for many people.

The procedure for entry to this Onsen 温泉 establishment is as follows. First place your shoes in a shoes locker, then go to the entry counter. They will present you with a wrist band locker key. The wristband has a barcode so that you can purchase items during your stay and they will be charged to your final bill. Next go to the Yukata counter and choose a Yukata 浴衣 (Japanese summer kimono) and an Obi 帯 (cotton sash) to wear within the building. Next enter the locker room where you can get changed into swimmers for the mixed swimwear zone or just a towel for the traditional Onsen 温泉 zone.

The mixed swimwear zone is large and consists mostly of outdoor baths (Rotenburo) 露天風呂. There is an indoor corridor leading around the outdoor baths and a bar for refreshments, food and drink. There are a variety of baths with different shapes and temperatures. There is a low temperature sauna and a massage clinic.

The traditional Onsen 温泉 zone is also quite large with an indoor and outdoor section. In the indoor section there is a mist sauna and a high temperature sauna. Just outside the saunas is a plunge pool. There is a medicinal bath, Jacuzzi bath and theme baths such as Collagen, Plum and Green Tea. Amenities are all provided including body soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, hair products and dryers.

Getting up from the baths you can choose to don your Yukata and enjoy the indoor restaurants, shops and entertainment. Fees can be charged to your wristband and paid for at the end of your visit.
